Is Metro man E Sreedharan NDA's presidential nominee?

There is a growing speculation that BJP wants to field "metro man" E Sreedharan as its presidential candidate. Multiple reports are doing the rounds that Sreedharan "deliberately" excluded from the list of invitees.

Speculation is stirring over the possible candidacy of E Sreedharan in the next presidential election. There are reports that the NDA is likely to consider former Delhi Metro chief even though the possibility of non-political selection is very remote.

"It would be improper if he is seen sitting with PM Modi and Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu on the dais just days before the name of the NDA candidate is announced," an India Today report said.

The report said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is interested in proposing India's 'metro man' for the post. This might be because the opposition respects Sreedharan and might not deploy a candidate against him.

BJP chief minister till has not revealed, who will be party's choice for the president. However, according to a Times of India report, Urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu has reached out to NCP chief Sharad Pawar and TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu, and will also be talking to Sonia Gandhi to reach a consensus of the presidential candidate.
