Meet Rahul Khandelwal, the first Indian to win Mr World

Rohit Khandelwal, a popular television actor and model, is the first Indian and Asian to win the prestigious title of Mr World 2016. The pageant which was held on 19th July at the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre in Southport, UK, saw Khandelwal battling it out against 46 participants from across the world. 

According to media reports, the Hyderabad-based model also won a cash prize of $50,000 along with the coveted title. “I feel so privileged and humbled to be Mr World 2016. I would like to thank all my fans and all the people who have been giving me all their blessings. It is only your love and support that has been my inspiration to win Mr World 2016. It has been an amazing journey to this point, and I cannot wait to see what happens next,” he said. 

Nicklas Pedersen, who won the title in 2014, handed over the mantle to Khandelwal. The model turned actor first worked as a SpiceJet ground staff. He was then seen in a couple of popular TV shows like Yeh Hai Aashiqui and Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.
