Matuas are citizens of our country, there will be no ARC-NPR in West Bengal: Mamata Banerjee

Synopsis

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a public meeting at Bangaon today (December 9). In the meeting, she said that the government has taken various steps for the Matua community. At the same time, the Trinamool supremo slammed the BJP for the new agriculture bill.  

In the last Lok Sabha elections, the BJP put its hand on the vote bank of the Matua community. The ruling Trinamool Congress is desperate to get back the Matua vote bank before the 2021 assembly polls. 

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a public meeting at Bangaon today (December 9). In the meeting, she said that the government has taken various steps for the Matua community. At the same time, the Trinamool supremo slammed the BJP for the new agriculture bill.

Mamata Banerjee said from the meeting in Bangaon, “All the Matuas are citizens of this country. You do not need any credentials. We will not allow ARC-NPR in the state. I will not allow the state to become Gujarat.”

Besides, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reminded of the steps taken by the state government for the Matua community. 

The Chief Minister also said in the meeting, “We have worked for the Matua community. I have created Matua Development Board. The board has already been given Rs 10 crore. The work for the development will start soon.”

Mamata Banerjee said that holiday will be declared on Harichand Tagore's birthday. The work of Harichand Guruchand University has already been completed. The textbook of West Bengal will include the biography of Harichand Tagore.
