Massive win for forces in Kashmir, Hizbul Mujahideen chief killed

Synopsis

Hizbul Mujahideen operations chief Saifullah topped the list of top 10 most wanted terrorists in Kashmir that was recently prepared by security agencies. He was also wanted in several cases of terror attacks.

Hizbul Muhajideen chief commander Saifullah has been eliminated by security forces in an encounter in J&K's Rangreth area. 

Another terrorist was captured alive during the operation that was launched in the morning on a specific information.

Following the encounter, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Range Vijay Kumar said: "Our sources have told us that the terrorist killed in the operation is Hizbul Mujahideen chief commander, Dr Saifullah."

Terming the encounter as a major success for the security forces, the Kashmir Range IG said: "He is the second Hizb chief killed in the operation this year. Earlier in May, Riyaz Naikoo who was operational commander was also killed in an encounter in Pulwama and then Dr Saifullah was nominated as the new Hizb chief."

Saifullah topped the list of top 10 most wanted terrorists in Kashmir that was recently prepared by security agencies. He was also wanted in several cases of terror attacks.

Congratulating security forces, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbagh Singh said: "Congratulations. Chief HM commander Saifullah who took over after Riyaz Naikoo's killing is eliminated in a police operation in Srinagar city on a hard Int generated by police. He was the person behind the killing of three BJP workers two days back. A very big success."
