Mamata Banerjee ready to work with Centre for implementation of COVID-19 vaccine

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday (November 24) said the state government is ready to work with the central government to ensure speedy COVID-19 vaccination for everyone. Mamata Banerjee informed the Prime Minister in the virtual meeting that West Bengal is fully prepared with trained human personnel and the necessary infrastructure, including a cold chain system, for the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination programme.
 


West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Tuesday (November 24) that the state government will collaborate with the Centre in the implementation of the vaccination programme.

In a virtual meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mamata Banerjee said that her government is fully prepared to work with the Central government and all other stakeholders for the COVID-19 vaccination programme in Bengal.

“The state government is ready to work with the Central government and all other stakeholders to ensure speedy and universal vaccination for everyone as soon it is available,” Mamata Banerjee said during the virtual meeting.

This comes after the Prime Minister spoke to several Chief Ministers over the deteriorating pandemic situation in their states earlier in the day.

PM Modi said at the virtual meeting, “The government is keeping a close track of vaccine development. We are in touch with Indian vaccine developers and manufacturers. We are also in touch with global regulators, governments of other countries, multinational organisations and international companies. It is not certain whether there will be one, two or three doses.”

Mamata Banerjee informed the Prime Minister in the virtual meeting that West Bengal is fully prepared with trained human personnel and the necessary infrastructure, including a cold chain system, for the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination programme. Recently, the state government has readied the list of frontline workers, who need to be vaccinated in the initial phase.

Mamata Banerjee said despite starting of suburban railway services, West Bengal has successfully reduced the positivity and death rates and also improved the recovery rate.

The state government mentioned that it has spent Rs 4,000 crore to bring the COVID-19 situation under control.
