Madhya Pradesh crisis: Bengaluru witnesses resort politics yet again, Cong MLAs huddle inside villa

In all, 17 Congress MLAs were supposed to flee Madhya Pradesh for Bengaluru, but chief minister Kamal Nath reportedly got wind of it, and was able to hold back several of them, according to BJP sources in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru: If unfolding political developments in Bhopal and Gurugram are any indication, the Karnataka syndrome has arrived in the Madhya Pradesh political scene.

After initial denials, sources have now confirmed that four MLAs from Madhya Pradesh are huddled in a luxury gated community near Whitefield, Bengaluru. Three Congress MLAs and one independent MLA who were taken to Whitefield in the wee hours of Tuesday are reportedly residing at Prestige Palm meadows.

Few policemen in mufti have been deployed around the gated community. It is said that the villa belongs to a man named Karunesh, who is the brother of leading real estate businessman, Adarsh Developers owner Jaishankar. Jaishankar and Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa reportedly have business and financial dealings.

Meanwhile, BSY’s son BY Vijayendra has been given the responsibility of safekeeping the four MLAs until they are in Karnataka.

Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday morning claimed that the MLAs would return to the Congress fold while claiming the Kamal Nath government faces no risk.

Meanwhile, even as the Congress blamed the BJP, the latter has termed the crisis as an internal matter of the Congress.

It is being said that the Congress MLAs have revolted against their party after differences arose between them and chief minister Kamal Nath.

With a very slender majority in the Madhya Pradesh legislature, the latest developments spell trouble for the Kamal Nath-led Congress government in the state.

The Congress has 114 seats of its own and with the support of others it sits in power with a total of 121 members in the Assembly. This includes legislators from independents and marginal players like the Samajwadi Party.
