Madan Mitra lashes out at Soumendu Adhikari after he quits TMC

After Soumendu Adhikari left the TMC and joined the BJP on Friday (January 1), TMC leader Madan Mitra lashed out at him and said that anybody is welcome to leave the party.

After Suvendu Adhikari’s younger brother Soumendu Adhikari left the TMC and joined the BJP on Friday (January 1), TMC leader Madan Mitra said that anybody is welcome to leave the party.

At a press conference, Mitra said, “Anybody is welcome to leave. I don’t think there’ll be any reflection in our party for the defection of Soumendu.”

The TMC leader also claimed that the party workers are becoming devoted to the party before the assembly polls which are scheduled to be held in the state in April and May.

14 TMC councillors along with Somendu Adhikari added their names to the BJP on Friday in presence of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.

Before joining the BJP, Soumendu was removed as the administrator of the Contai municipality by the TMC with Suvendu terming the removal a “vindictive move” on the part of the state government.

Suvndu Adhikari joined the BJP in the presence of Union home minister Amit Shah on December 19.

Adhikari also hit out at the Mamata Banerjee-led government by saying that the Adhikari family was not with the party anymore, and accused it of delaying the municipal polls in the state.
