LDF, UDF deceived honest people of Kerala for decades: Rajnath Singh

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh accused both LDF and UDF of deceiving Kerala for decades. He stated that people vote to oust one of them, not choose them, defining LDF as 'Loot, Division, Failure' and UDF as 'Untrustworthy, Dishonesty, Fraud'.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday accused both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) of deceiving the hardworking and honest people of Keralam for decades, and said that people don't vote to choose them, but rather to oust one of the two alliances.

Addressing a public meeting in Paravoor Assembly constituency here, he said the people of Kerala have been repeatedly "deceived" by both fronts. "Both the LDF and the UDF have been deceiving the hardworking and honest people of Kerala for decades. Their flags and election symbols may be different, but their conduct and character are the same. Their thinking is also the same. Both have worked to divide society and ruin Kerala's economy," Singh said.

Taking a swipe at the political cycle in the state, Singh remarked, "The people of Kerala do not vote to choose the LDF or UDF; rather, they vote to oust one of these two from power. But unfortunately, the other one automatically comes to power."

LDF, UDF Acronyms for 'Corruption'

Intensifying his attack, Singh said that LDF meant "Loot, Division, and Failure" while UDF meant "Untrustworthy, Dishonesty, and Fraud". "The people of Kerala know that LDF means Loot, Division, and Failure. And UDF means Untrustworthy, Dishonesty, and Fraud. The 'F' in both stands for 'Front for Corruption'," he added.

NDA Intensifies Campaign for April 9 Polls

His remarks come as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA has intensified its campaign to expand its footprint in the state ahead of the April 9 Assembly elections. The alliance is seeking to challenge the dominance of the CPI(M)-led LDF, currently headed by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, which has been in power for nearly a decade.

Meanwhile, NDA candidate Anoop Antony from Thiruvalla expressed confidence in the party's growth, stating that the BJP's vote share has steadily increased over the years and that voters are now looking for a credible alternative.

The Keralam Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on April 9, with counting scheduled for May 4. (ANI)
