Kerala woman ‘gang-raped’ in Thiruvananthapuram: Police nab 7th accused

Synopsis

One more person has been arrested in connection with the gangrape of a 25-year-old woman in front of her son in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram.  


Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police have arrested one more person in connection with the Kerala woman “gang-rape” case. Police added that all seven accused, including her husband, have been arrested in the case.

The 27-year-old accused is an autorickshaw driver. He was arrested by Kadinamkulam Police and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. He was absconding since the incident occurred.

The alleged incident occurred on June 4. The 25-year-old woman was forced to drink alcohol by her husband and was sexually assaulted by his friend in front of their son.

Police registered a case against the seven accused, including the husband, for kidnapping, assaulting and gang rape.

Meanwhile, police registered a case against the arrested under the POCSO Act for abusing the woman in front of her child.

It is reported that the husband had taken the woman and their child to the beach at Puthukurichi near Puthanthoppu. From there, the trio went to the husband's friend's house, where the alleged incident happened.

Police said that the woman ran out of the house and passers-by saw the victim and took her to hospital. They also alerted police, which helped them nab the accused.
