Kerala Police identify 3rd person who was with accused arrested for Maoist links

Kerala Police have identified the third person who was with CPI(M) members Allan Suhaib and Taha Fasal, charged under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). The third accused is identified as Usman, who was earlier arrested on similar charges of being associated with the CPI(Maoist) and reportedly indulging in carrying out the propaganda of the outfit which was banned in 2016.  

Kozhikode: Kerala Police have identified the third person who was with CPI(M) members Allan Suhaib and Taha Fasal, charged under the UAPA. The police identified him as Usman, a Malappuram native. He is an accused in several other cases and a staunch Maoist with four cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in various districts registered against him. Usman was arrested on similar charges of having association with the CPI(Maoist) and reportedly indulging in carrying out the propaganda of the banned outfit in 2016.

During patrolling, Kerala Police found three-persons and suspected something foul. Among the three, Usman fled upon seeing police officers, leaving behind a bag that contained Maoist literature. Police have also collected certain posters from the accused. Taha Fasal and Allan Shuhaib were taken into custody on the same day.

On November 1, Allan Suhaib and Taha Fasal confessed to being Maoists. CPI(M) has reportedly suspended its members Allan Suhaib and Taha Fasal after being charged under UAPA sections for Maoist links. According to sources, the decision is an internal one and was reported by Kozhikode South area committee on November 12.

The preliminary findings of the party designated inquiry commission have been discussed in the local committee meetings. At the same time, the suspension has not been reported in the committee meetings in rural areas where meetings started a day late.
