Kerala will receive heavy rainfall today and a yellow alert has been sounded in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts. A yellow alert has been issued in Ernakulam and Palakkad districts on Friday as well.

3:26 PM: Rs 12 lakh worth of MDMA seized in Palakkad and Kannur
Two natives of Kannur and Kozhikode were arrested with 227 grams of MDMA worth Rs 12 lakh.TK Naushad, a resident of Thalassery, and Sumesh Kumar, a resident of Chemmarathur, Vadakara, were arrested. They were arrested by the police while staying at a private hotel in Shoranur.

A man died after being hit by a car in Pathanamthitta. Prasannan, a native of Vettipuram, died. It is suspected that the car passengers were drunk. The body was shifted to Pathanamthitta General Hospital.

A man was arrested for accepting a bribe in Thrissur. N. Ravindran, Thrissur Taluk Surveyor, was caught while accepting a bribe. A bribe of Rs 2500 was taken to measure the land.

A case of food poisoning was reported at Ilamvumthitta Junction, Pathanamthitta. As many as 15 people sought medical treatment for food poisoning after consuming food from Deepa bakery. People who ate burgers got food poisoning.

The Kerala Secretariat received a bomb threat on Thursday. The message reached the control room of the police headquarters. The message came from Pozhiyur. The bomb squad is investigating the message. The message was received at the police station around 11 a.m. today. The message is that bombs will be planted inside and outside the Secretariat by noon. Based on the message, the police team and bomb squad are investigating.

An unusual and strange incident took place at Mary Queen's Hospital in Kanjirapalli. The body of Shoshamma (86), a native of Kanjirapally was handed over to another party. When the relatives of Shoshamma came to the hospital to collect the body they found that it was someone else' body. When they inquired about the whereabouts of Shoshamma's body, the hospital authorities gave an explanation that it had been taken away by other people and cremated.

Advocate Saibi Jose has been cleared of bribery accusations involving judges. A special team investigated the case and found no evidence against him. The report was given to the Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court. The case pertains to allegations that three High Court judges accepted bribes from parties involved.

9.00 AM: UAPA charged on Maoists captured in Wayanad
A gun battle broke out between Kerala Police Thunderbolts special forces team and Maoists in a forest area at Thalappuzha, near Periya in Wayanad district late on Tuesday (Nov 7). The police captured two Maoists- Chandru and Unnimaya, both allegedly top cadres of the Bansura Dalam of the Communist Party of India (Maoist). The police have imposed UAPA charges against the two and two others who are absconding.
8.30 AM: High Court verdict today on petition against Sabarimala Melshanti election
The Kerala High Court on Thursday (Nov 9) will pronounce the verdict on the petition alleging irregularities in the appointment of the Sabarimala Chief priest. and canceling the elections. The Devaswom Bench of the High Court will pronounce its verdict at 1.30 pm. The High Court had clarified that there was a presence of unnecessary people in the Melshanti elections. Thiruvananthapuram native Madhusudhan Namboothiri approached the High Court alleging irregularities in the election. The main allegation is that two of the papers prepared for the draw were folded and the others rolled up.

A man killed his father-in-law in Nedumkandam in Idukki. The accused Jobin Thomas was taken into police custody for killing Tommy. He also attacked his wife Tintu and is undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College.

The India Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of isolated heavy rains in the state today. A yellow alert has been declared in two districts today- Ernakulam and Idukki.
8.10 AM: Aluva rape and murder case: Quantum of punishment likely to be pronounced today
The hearing on the quantum of punishment against accused Ashfaq Alam in the rape and murder case of a five-year-old girl in Aluva will be heard today. The court had earlier found him guilty and had asked to submit a mental report of the accused. The reports of the mental state examination of the accused were presented yesterday in a sealed cover by the government, prison authorities and the probation officer in the court.
