Kerala gold smuggling case: Customs department gets permission to question Swapna Suresh, Sandeep

Synopsis

 Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair have filed a bail application in the special NIA court, Ernakulam.  

Kochi: Customs department received permission to question Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh and Sandeep. The NIA special court gave permission to Customs department to question the duo who is in custody of the National Investigation Agency.

The NIA custody of two key accused in the sensational Kerala gold smuggling case was extended till July 24 by a Special Court on July 21. Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair have filed a bail application in the special NIA court, Ernakulam.

Suresh and another accused Sandeep Nair were brought to the special NIA court as the eight-day custody period granted to the National Investigation Agency was supposed to end on July 21.

Considering the agency's plea seeking extension of their custody, the court extended the same till Friday.

The court is likely to consider Swapna Suresh's bail plea on July 24.

On July 22, customs officials arrested one more accused in the Kerala gold smuggling case. The accused Hamzath Abdu Salam has been arrested in the case for buying smuggled gold.
