Karnataka to open public libraries

Synopsis

With the Unlock 4.0 relaxations implied across the country, the Karnataka State Government is set to open public libraries. Libraries in containment zones will remain closed.

Bengaluru: The Unlock 4.0 guidelines being implied across the country has eased down many restrictions post lockdown.

Further easing COVID-19 related restrictions, the Karnataka government on Friday has ordered the opening of public libraries in the state.

While all public libraries in the state will be open for readers, the public libraries in containment zones will remain closed.

Keeping in mind the national directives for the control of COVID-19, the libraries will be allowed to open only if the officials strictly follow the national directives.

The library officials must imply thermal scanning of those entering the libraries. Both officials and citizens making use of the library must undergo a thermal scan and use sanitizers.

The opening of the public libraries was confirmed by Principal Secretary to the state government Anjum Parvez.

Anjum Parvez said in an order that officials concerned should provide library service to the citizens.

This relaxation has come into force following the Unlock 4.0 guidelines, under which the government had allowed further easing of COVID restrictions, outside the containment zones.
