Karnataka reports eleventh case of coronavirus

Synopsis

The 11th patient is a 67-year-old woman and a resident of Bengaluru. According to reports, the patient has travel history from Dubai via Goa on March 9.  


Bengaluru: Medical education minister of Karnataka K Sudhakar on Tuesday said that another patient was tested positive for COVID-19 in the state. With this, the total number of positive cases in the state reached 11.

The patient is a 67-year-old woman. According to reports, the patient has a travel history from Dubai via Goa on March 9. She was home-quarantined after she came back to Bengaluru. On March 16, she was admitted to a hospital and isolated.

Meanwhile, a 58-year-old man, who is suspected to be a coronavirus patient fled from a government hospital.

He had recently returned from the US and was admitted to CV Raman Hospital in Indiranagar, Bengaluru, and his samples were sent for testing. His test report from the National Institute of Virology Lab is still awaited.

India has over 126 Covid-19 cases, including three people, who have died, and 13, who have been discharged, according to a tally published by the Union ministry of health and family welfare.

The Union health ministry also said fresh coronavirus cases were reported from Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Kerala.

Declared a "controllable" pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the coronavirus disease has killed over 7,000 people and infected more than 1,80,000 people worldwide.
