Karnataka rains: DyCM Ashwath Narayan to inspect badly hit areas in Bengaluru

Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan has said that on Wednesday he will be inspecting areas hit badly by the heavy rains on Tuesday.

Bengaluru: With heavy rains accompanied by strong winds in parts of Bengaluru on Tuesday, Deputy Chief Minister CN Ashwath Narayan said he will inspect areas hit badly on Wednesday.

The Deputy CM will inspect the spot at Gurudutta Layout near Hosakerehalli in the city where a portion of the stormwater drain (SWD) wall collapsed causing problems to residents.

According to BBMP officials, the team was alerted by residents Wednesday morning about the incident. "Repairing works of the SWD wall is already underway at Gurudutta Layout. Our officials are attending and resolving other complaints reported from many areas in the city as well," BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad said.

Manjuath Prasad also tweeted, "BBMP officials are on the ground addressing complaints of tree fall in Basavanagudi & Banashankari. Gangmen have been working round-the-clock from last night & again from this morning addressing rain-related complaints".

According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), Kengeri, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Lakkasandra, VV Puram, and Gottigere areas received over 100 mm of rain till Wednesday morning.

At the same time, Vidyapeetha, Nagarbhavi, Bapujinagar, Begur, and surrounding areas received over 90 mm of rainfall.

Meanwhile the Chief Minister of Karnataka has done an aerial survey of rain hit districts in North Karnataka on Wednesday.
