Karnataka extends lockdown till May 19, to issue new guidelines for state after Centre’s order

The Karnataka government has extended the lockdown in the state for the next two days, as it awaits the Centre's new guidelines.
Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has extended the lockdown till May 19. All orders in force from May 4 will continue in the state.
According to government sources, the state is awaiting the Centre's new guidelines.
Sources in the Karnataka government also said that that state will announce new lockdown guidelines specific to the state after based on the Centre’s new guidelines for Lockdown 4.0 which is expected soon.
Karnataka on Sunday reported 54 fresh COVID-19 cases. With the number of active cases standing at 611, the total now stands at 1,146. About 497 people have been discharged.
Among new cases, a one-year-old boy from Mandya contracted the infection and has been admitted to a designated hospital in the region.
The death toll in Karnataka stands at 37.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have also joined Punjab and Mizoram to extend the lockdown till May 31. Telangana had already extended restrictions till May 29.
