Karnataka CM to hold COVID-19 review meeting with 11 district administrations

Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa will review COVID-19 situation in 11 districts that have a high caseload on Thursday. Karnataka has reported 10,900 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will take stock of the COVID-19 situation in 11 districts that have a high caseload on Thursday.

The districts selected for the review meeting are so far the worst hit districts with a great number of COVID-19 positive cases and higher death rates.

The Chief Minister will review Ballari, Dakshina Kannada, Hassan, Dharwad, Belagavi, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Bengaluru Urban via video conference, according to the Chief Minister’s Office.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru reported 5,000 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the cumulative active cases in the capital city to 58,624. The city continues to have 18 containment zones that have been unchanged in the last few days.

A total of 2,057 recovered and 55 people succumbed to COVID-19 in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The city has so far had 2,62,241 COVID-19 cases, 2,00,426 recoveries and 3,191 deaths. According to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), 35,183 tests were carried out in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Karnataka on Wednesday reported its highest single-day spike of over 10,900 COVID-19 cases and 113 fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 6,68,652 and the toll to 9,574.

9,832 patients got discharged the same day after recovery and the active cases stood at 1,16,153, the health department said.
