Bengaluru: To put the brakes on vehicular and public movement during lockdown and to facilitate those who spend hours together standing in line near supermarkets to get groceries, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority ( KSDMA) have come up with a home delivery helpline.
The helpline number (080 6191 4960) is a WhatsApp enabled system that facilitates delivery of groceries at the doorstep of residents.
The BBMP has asked shop owners to mandatorily register themselves on the BBMP COVID-19 home delivery helpline and encouraged public to buy groceries only through these platforms.
According to the BBMP, nearby stores can be linked and Rs 20 needs to be paid as delivery charges.
This concept of home delivery based on mobile app was initiated in Bengaluru South limits to encourage them to adhere to social-distancing norms. However few consumers have faced issues with on-time delivery.
