Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandes has once again skipped the Enforcement Directorate summon in connection with the extortion case linked to alleged scamster Sukesh Chandrasekhar.
This is the fourth summon that Jacqueline has evaded from the agency which is probing a Rs 200 crore extortion case.
Sources said that agency can now seek legal options to make her join the investigation.
However, agency sources have confirmed that, at the moment, Jacqueline is not being sought as a person of interest in the case. rather, she is being summoned to depose as a witness.
On earlier occasions, the actress cited 'professional commitments' as the reason for skipping the Enforcement Directorate summons.
Chandrasekar and his wife Leena Paul were arrested by Delhi Police for allegedly trying to extort Rs 200 crore from the family of Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Singh. Sukesh allegedly posed as a law ministry official and reportedly promised Shivinder's wife Aditi Singh that he would help get her husband released from jail if she were to offer him a bribe. Shivinder was arrested in connection with a money laundering case with regard to the alleged misappropriation of Religare Finvest Limited's funds in 2019.
Chandrasekhar, who is accused in the 21 cases, reportedly made the extortion calls while he was lodged in New Delhi's Rohini jail.
The Enforcement Directorate had on Friday also taken a statement from another Bollywood actor, Nora Fatehi who later issued a statement ending speculations about her involvement in the probe.
Nora clarified that she appeared before the Enforcement agency as a victim of extortion and not as an accused in the case.
