In a rather embarrassing turn of events for beleaguered business tycoon Vijay Mallya, dozens of fans who had come to watch the Champions Trophy match between India-South Africa match at the Oval stadium in London booed him.
The fans chanted "Chor Chor" (Thief) as they spotted Mallya entering the stadium, ANI reported. Others said: "Mallya is a thief." Another recent video that was shared on Twitter has Mallya being called a "fraud" by an unidentified passerby.
Earlier on June 6, Mallya turned up at a charity ball hosted by Virat Kohli at London for Justice and Care organisation. The entire team left the venue as they did not want to be seen socialising with him. Mallya fled India after he failed to clear bank loans worth estimated to be around Rs 9,000 crores. He is also wanted in cases related to foreign exchange violation and embezzlement.
