New Delhi: India is all set to build a cricket stadium housing 22,000 spectators and a 100-bedded cancer hospital in Hulhumale, Maldives.

It might be recalled that Exim Bank, which is owned by Government of India, had pledged $800 million in March 2019.

Reports further add that in September, the Narendra Modi-led government had extended another $250 million loan to the island nation to attenuate the impact of COVID-19.

Reports further add that, in order to discuss these projects, Sanjay Sudhir, who is the High Commissioner of India to Maldives met Mohamed Jaish Ibrahim (Chariman of Maldives’ Housing Development Corporation Ltd) on Tuesday.

A popular website added that the Indian Embassy briefed the masses in the wake of these recent developments too.

“A 100-bed state-of-the-art Cancer Hospital will be set up in Hulhumale under the USD 800 million Line of Credit extended to the Maldives. This project will build on the already close bilateral cooperation in the health sector and include a robust component of human resource dvpt,” it tweeted.

The embassy further mentioned, “Honoured to partner with Housing Development Corporation Ltd. Dvpt. of Central Park and renovation of the Arrival Jetty in Hulhumale are grant projects close to our heart. While the Park is the perfect place for leisure and fitness activities, the Jetty will benefit visitors and residents alike.”
