A senior Congress party leader said that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will visit Hathras on Saturday afternoon

New Delhi: On October 3, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will visit Hathras in the afternoon to meet the family of the 19-year-old woman who was assaulted and allegedly gang-raped.

Congress leader KC Venugopal tweeted, “Congress MPs under the leadership of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi will go to Hathras today afternoon to meet the grieving family of the 19-year old-daughter of Uttar Pradesh, who was brutally assaulted & murdered."

On October 1, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were detained by the police after they tried to visit Hathras to meet gang rape victim's family. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, whose march with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to Hathras was stopped, alleged that the police lathicharged and pushed him to the ground.

Gandhis want to meet the family of the 19-year-old Dalit woman who died after allegedly being gang-raped and tortured by four upper-caste men in the Uttar Pradesh district. The victim’s family also alleged that the UP Police had cremated her forcibly without their permission.
