India reports a spike of 73,272 new COVID19 cases & 926 deaths in the last 24 hours. This takes the tally to 69,79,424 including 8,83,185 active cases and 1,07,416 deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry.
New Delhi: India on Friday reported a spike of 73,272 new COVID-19 cases and 926 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 69,79,424.
This included 8,83,185 active cases, 59,88,823 cured and discharged and 1,07,416 deaths, according to the Union Health Ministry.
A total of 11,64,018 samples were tested for COVID-19 on Friday. Till October 9, a total of 8,57,98,698 samples were tested in the country according to the Indian Council of Medical Research.

The number of active coronavirus cases in India for the first time in a month has fallen below the nine lakh-mark, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.
The ministry also said the active cases comprise merely 12.94 per cent of the total positive cases of the country.
As on October 9 cumulatively Maharashtra has so far recorded 14,93,884 cases, Andhra Pradesh 7,39,719, Karnataka 6,90,269, Tamil Nadu 6,40,943, Uttar Pradesh 4,27,259, Delhi 3,00,833, West Bengal 2,84,030, Kerala 2,58,851, Odisha 2,46,839, and Telangana with 2,08,535 cases.
