After beef, this BJP leader now wants momos to be banned

Synopsis

Momos are close to becoming a national food A BJP MLC from Jammu and Kashmir wants to ban momos saying that our youth is getting addicted to momos like drugs Ramesh Arora is apparently wary of ‘Bangladeshi’ and ‘Burmese’ migrants selling these snacks all over India

Momos have taken India by storm. Small stalls selling these steamy savouries can be found in almost every area of metropolitan or even tier-II cities. The simple dumpling made of wheat dough and meat, vegetable or cheese filling is almost close to becoming a national food. Momos have its roots in Tibet and are sold from street side stalls to fancy restaurants.

However, it might be banned, at least in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, if this BJP minister has his way.

BJP MLC Ramesh Arora doesn’t like momos (never thought that was possible!) and he has his reasons. He has made it his mission to ban them. And all this, he says, is to save the youth.

1)    Save the youth!

Arora is of the opinion that our youth is getting addicted to momos like drugs. It is spoiling their health, and so they have to stop it. He said that Ajinomoto, a flavour enhancer in momo, causes cancer.

2)    Stop the migrants!

Arora is apparently wary of ‘Bangladeshi’ and ‘Burmese’ migrants selling these snacks all over India. His efforts have reduced the sale of momos by 35% in the state.

3)    Someone hear me! Please!

Some of his party members are unconvinced with this move. According to indiatimes.com Minister of State for Prime Minister’s office, Jitender Singh was recently seen enjoying momos in a Facebook photo.
