
Manali: Seven persons were killed after a jeep they were travelling in plunged into a gorge at Pul Gharat in Mandi late Sunday night.
The victims were from Bihar who were coming to Himachal's Mandi district to work as labourers.
According to police, the labourers were coming to work with a civil contractor. They had come to Mandi in Haryana Roadways bus. They had to deboard the bus at Ner Chowk but mistakenly reached the bus stand at Mandi town. The contractor then sent a jeep to bring them back to Ner Chowk.

The driver lost control of the jeep at Pul Gharat and it fell down into a gorge from the bridge. While all labourers died on the spot, the driver survived with some injuries.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed grief over the road accident in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district in which seven people lost their lives.
"Extremely pained after hearing the news of a road accident in Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. The government is involved in relief and rescue operations. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wish the injured well soon," PMO tweeted, quoting PM Modi.
Mandi superintendent of police Shalini Agnihotri said all seven persons from Bihar were killed on the spot. "The deceased are being identified. A case under section 279, 337, 304A IPC has been registered," she added.
