CCTV footage shows tenants allegedly assaulting landlord’s family in Ghaziabad

Synopsis

A Ghaziabad landlord and his family were allegedly assaulted by tenants and their guests after complaining about loud music during a New Year’s Eve party. The incident, captured on CCTV, led to an FIR against three accused.

Ghaziabad witnessed a disturbing incident on New Year’s Eve when a landlord and his family were allegedly assaulted by their tenants and the tenants’ guests after objecting to loud music and late-night celebrations. The incident took place at Sushant Aquapolis in Crossing Republik, raising concerns over safety and neighbourly disputes during festive gatherings.

According to police, the altercation occurred late on 31 December, when the tenants were hosting a New Year party on the terrace of the residential building. The situation reportedly escalated when the landlord requested the revellers to lower the volume and end the disturbance in the early hours of 1 January.

Viral Video Shows Vandalism and Misconduct

A video of the incident, which surfaced on social media on Saturday, shows a group of individuals allegedly misbehaving with the landlord’s family. Police officials said the footage captured acts of vandalism, including damage to plant pots, chairs, and the landlord’s vehicle, highlighting the seriousness of the case.

Landlord and Family Allegedly Assaulted

The landlord, Hitesh Sharma, stated in his complaint that he and his family returned home around 1 am to find the tenants hosting a noisy party. He alleged that several guests were shouting, using abusive language, and creating a nuisance. When the family objected, the situation quickly turned violent.

Sharma added that his wife and son were manhandled, he sustained a finger injury during the scuffle, and the accused also issued threats before fleeing. He further claimed that the rear-view mirror of his car was damaged, along with other household items on the terrace.

Police Register FIR Against Accused Tenants

Sarita Devi, Station House Officer (SHO) of Crossings Republik police station, confirmed that an FIR was registered on 2 January against three tenants—Sarthak, Prithvi, and Sanket—based on the family’s complaint.

“The tenants and their guests resorted to violence and vandalism after being asked to stop the disturbance. The incident has been captured on CCTV cameras installed at the house,” the SHO said.

Accused Vacate House, Police Launch Manhunt

Police officials added that the tenants vacated the premises the following day. Authorities are working to trace and arrest the accused and identify any other individuals involved in the incident.

The case has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including:

  • Rioting (Section 115(2))
  • Voluntarily causing grievous hurt (Section 117(2))
  • Mischief causing property damage (Section 324)
  • Criminal intimidation (Section 351(3))
