From Delhi to Mumbai: Netizens react as monsoon mayhem hits India; Check out

Synopsis

Residents of Delhi and Mumbai took to social media to share images and videos of flooded housing complexes, lashing out at the city's municipal corporation and poor infrastructure.

Severe waterlogging was reported on Monday in various parts of the nation, including Delhi, Mumbai and their adjourning cities, after they received heavy rainfall. Residents took to social media to share images and videos of flooded housing complexes, lashing out at the city's municipal corporation and poor infrastructure.

Several videos emerged on the internet that showed vehicles partially submerged and water flowing on the streets in the financial and technology hub.

Within the 24 hours, heavy rainfall led to waterlogging in many parts of Mumbai and suburbs, including Vikhroli, Bhandup, Chembur, Andheri, and parts of south Mumbai such as Colaba and Cuffe Parade.

Local train services were heavily affected by the rainfall. Many trains came to a halt, and many routes were cancelled due to waterlogging in the area.

On Sunday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that Gurugram is expected to receive "heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning" over the next two days. It had issued an orange alert for both days.

Severe water-logging was reported in Delhi as well, with the city registering 70 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

The department further warned against "partial damage to plantation, horticulture, standing crops, vulnerable structures, kutcha houses and huts" due to rains and strong winds.

Apart from netizens, the Delhi Traffic Police too reported waterlogging and shared alerts about the traffic for the public to travel hassle-free.
