Forest department rescues pangolin from North Bengal

The forest department rescued a pangolin from Cooch Behar in North Bengal. According to sources from the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, the state port office and the armed border force launched a joint operation after receiving information from secret sources. Police have arrested one person in the incident.

A pangolin was rescued from Cooch Behar in a joint operation. The State Forest Department and SSB launched the operation at the initiative of the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau.

According to sources from the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, the state port office and the armed border force launched a joint operation after receiving information from secret sources. The pangolin was rescued from Cooch Behar in North Bengal. Police have arrested one person in the incident.

The forest department rescued the pangolin before it was smuggled. The head of the eastern branch of the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau in Kolkata said, “We will interrogate the accused and find out where the pangolins are being smuggled.”

Incidentally, the rescue of pangolins has been taking place for the past few months before being smuggled from various places in the state. This proves that pangolin trafficking is on the rise in the state. According to the port office, the pangolin is mainly found in the western districts of West Bengal. 

The smugglers are trying to smuggle the pangolins from the North Bengal Corridor. The animal is being trafficked to the Bangladesh border and north-eastern states. However, the head of the eastern branch of the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau said that the forest department was successful in curbing the pangolin smuggling.
