A fire was reported at a Haldia Petrochemicals pipeline in West Bengal. Separately, a massive blaze engulfed a chemical manufacturing unit in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, prompting a cross-district response. No casualties have been reported so far.

Fire at Haldia Petrochemicals

A fire broke out at a pipeline of Haldia Petrochemicals in West Bengal's Purba Medinipur district on Tuesday, officials said. Further details regarding the cause of the fire, any casualties or the extent of damage are awaited.

Massive Blaze at Meerut Chemical Factory

In a similar incident, another massive fire erupted at a chemical manufacturing unit located in Dhir Khera village of Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday, sending thick plumes of toxic smoke into the sky. Local fire emergency response units mounted a rapid containment operation to bring the raging flames under control.

Rapid Emergency Response

Upon receiving the distress call on June 29, the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) immediately coordinated a cross-district response, dispatching emergency assets from the neighbouring Hapur fire station to aid local teams in Meerut. Fire tenders were deployed on-site, battling hazardous, high-temperature chemical flames to prevent the fire from jumping to adjacent industrial blocks.

Official Statement on Containment

According to fire department personnel on the ground, the early phase of the operation was critical due to the presence of volatile compounds inside the factory premises. "We received urgent information about a major fire breaking out at a chemical factory in Dhir Khera," stated Fire Official Manveer Singh. "Following the alert, the CFO dispatched two fire trucks from the Hapur fire station immediately. Upon arrival, our teams encountered a severe fire but managed to control it promptly through swift tactical deployment."

No Casualties Reported, Cooling Operations Underway

No immediate casualties or civilian injuries have been reported from the factory floor so far. Cooling operations are currently underway to ensure no secondary chemical flare-ups occur in the storage units. Further details are awaited. (ANI)
