Falaknuma Express train catches fire in Telangana; No casualties reported

Synopsis

Falaknuma Super Fast Express train caught fire on Friday (July 7).  The train was stopped between Bommaipalli and Pagidipalli in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana.

Hyderabad: A fire broke out and quickly spread to four bogies of the Secunderabad-bound Falaknuma Express train on July 7 (Friday). A short circuit led to a fire, which caused heavy smoke to billow from the afflicted bogies. Since the train staff intervened promptly and evacuated the passengers, there were no fatalities.

The incident happened in Telangana's Yadri Bhuvanagiri district, halfway between Pagidipalli and Bommaipalli. The train was immediately stopped there as a result of the alert officials' prompt action, allowing the passengers to be safely evacuated from the impacted coaches. The incident did not result in any casualties.

An eyewitness who traveled on this train told the media that the fire occurred due to a passenger smoking a cigarette at the charging point.

The train is currently halted in Bommaipalli. There were no casualties, and railway officials are working to put the fire under control.
