
A Delhi woman, living in Bengaluru has received a huge backlash on her recent tweet, where she stated, “Dear Google, just because I stay in Bangalore, doesn’t mean I’ll understand ads in Kannada”.
A user named Amisha Agarwal (@awwmishaaa), stated that she tweeted this as feedback to the Google ads, which was showing her ads in Kannada. Meanwhile, her tweet started a heated debate on Twitter and she received numerous comments on her tweet.

Many of the users urged her to leave Bengaluru and go somewhere else if she does not want to learn Kannada while residing here. Most of the users DM’d her on Twitter, with cuss words and asked her to go and earn at her own hometown. One user went further and wrote, “Just because you speak Hindi, everything can’t be in Hindi in Bengaluru. Learn Kannada or sit down,”
Another defended her stating, “Dear non-Karnataka people, just because you are in Bangalore, doesn’t mean localities have to learn your language to converse with you,”
Another user said that even if he do not want to become a Kannada activist, the Norheas push him to the extent, of one day. The arrogance they display is unacceptable.
Her tweet received max outrage from the users, belonging to the state of Karnataka where a pro-Kannada movement has been an ongoing event for the past few years.

There have been several incidents similar to this one, where people from other states have expressed their opinion regarding the backlash for not speaking Kannada in Bengaluru. Bengaluru city is filled with mixed races, linguistics and people from all over the world.
It is necessary that the people residing here learn to respect the Kannada language, instead of just being adamant about it. After receiving such harsh criticism from the users, Aggarwal clarified her tweet was meant to be just for Google about its algorithm, which is used to suggest ad preferences to the users.
