Delhi Police bust prostitution racket at Kalkaji spas, rescue 21 women

Delhi Police raided two spa centres in Kalkaji, busting an illegal prostitution racket. The crackdown resulted in the rescue of 21 women and the arrest of two managers. Cases have been registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

In a major crackdown on illegal prostitution running under the guise of wellness services, the Delhi Police raided two separate spa centres in South Delhi's Kalkaji area on Saturday, arresting two managers and rescuing 21 women.

Police Conduct Decoy Operations

The operations were carried out on August 22 following specific intelligence regarding alleged illegal sex work being operated in these centres, both located within the jurisdiction of Kalkaji police station. Acting on the information, separate police teams were constituted to conduct decoy operations at both locations simultaneously.

Raid on First Spa Centre

During the raid at the 1st Spa centre, police apprehended and arrested the manager. During the raid, investigating officers recovered ₹7,200 in cash from the premises, in addition to ₹2,000 used as decoy money during the operation. A case was subsequently registered at Kalkaji police station under Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA).

Second Spa Centre Raided

In a parallel raid at the 2nd spa centre, police arrested the manager of the establishment. Officers seized ₹2,000 in cash from the location, along with ₹2,000 used in the decoy operation. A separate case was registered under Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the ITPA at Kalkaji police station.

21 Women Rescued, Investigation Underway

A total of 21 women were rescued across both establishments during the joint proceedings. All rescued women were sent for mandatory medical examination, and their official statements are currently being recorded as per legal procedure.

In total, the two targeted operations led to the arrest of two accused persons, the rescue of 21 women, the recovery of ₹9,200 in cash alongside ₹4,000 in decoy money, and the registration of two separate FIRs. Further investigation and necessary legal proceedings in both cases remain in progress, police added.
