Delhi Man Calls Cops Over ‘Collapsing’ House, Then Comes a Bizarre Twist (WATCH)

An intoxicated elderly man in South Delhi falsely reported that his house had collapsed. This triggered a massive emergency response. Multiple agencies, including police, fire, and disaster management teams, rushed to the scene, only to find the building completely intact.

A bizarre incident in South Delhi left police and multiple emergency agencies puzzled after an elderly man called authorities claiming that his house had collapsed. When the teams reached the location expecting a serious emergency, they found the house standing completely intact.

The incident took place in Maidan Garhi, where a man identified as Narendra made the call at around 3 pm. Given the recent building-collapse incidents in Delhi, authorities treated the report seriously. The response involved several agencies, including the Delhi Police, fire department, CATS ambulance service, NDRF and MCD, all of which rushed to the location.

Officials arrived expecting to find a collapsed structure and possibly people trapped beneath the debris. Instead, they found no collapsed building and no sign of anyone being trapped.

The situation became even more unusual when officials discovered that Narendra was heavily intoxicated. His family members repeatedly tried to persuade him to go inside the house, but he refused and continued interacting with the officials who had arrived at the spot.

In a particularly bizarre moment, the man appeared to question whether it was a crime to complain about the condition of a building.

The emergency response eventually established that there had been no building collapse and no loss of life or property. What had initially appeared to be a potentially dangerous situation turned out to be a false alarm.

Narendra's family members reportedly apologised to the officials for the inconvenience caused by the incident. As of the report published on September 29, no action had been taken against him over the call.

The incident has drawn attention because of the scale of the emergency response triggered by a single phone call. Police, firefighters, medical responders and disaster-management personnel were mobilised based on the information they received, only to discover that the reported collapse had not actually occurred.

The unusual episode has also highlighted why authorities may respond cautiously to reports involving structural collapses, particularly amid concerns over building-related incidents in the capital.
