Coronavirus scare: Karnataka minister announces closure of schools via Twitter

Synopsis

The deadly coronavirus has claimed over 3,500 lives and about 1 lakh are infected across the world. Karnataka education minister S Suresh Kumar has ordered the closure of kindergarten schools. The minister, through his Twitter account, announced the decision.  

Bengaluru: To ensure that small children, who are prone to infection, are safe especially when coronavirus scare has spread through the world, Karnataka's primary education minister S Suresh Kumar said that all kindergarten schools will remain closed.

He announced this decision through his Twitter account late on Sunday night. "Further to the advice received from the health commissioner, holidays have been declared for KJG/UKG classes in Bengaluru North, South & Rural Districts.l," read his Twitter post.

 

The decision to shut KG level schools in Bengaluru North, South and Rural Districts was taken following the coronavirus scare looming large in the IT capital especially after a Hyderabad techie carried this virus along with him from Dubai and reached Bengaluru. 

Both Karnataka and Telangana health department together tracked fellow passengers and those who came in contact with them and quarantined them fearing spread as the man tested positive.
