
Bengaluru: Rajya Sabha MP and BJP leader Ashok Gasti passed away in Bengaluru on Thursday due to coronavirus. The leader was hospitalised on September 2 after he tested positive for novel coronavirus.
According to reports, the MP suffered from breathing problems and was placed on ventilator support.

He took oath as a Rajya Sabha MP on July 22 this year. The MP also served as chairman of Karnataka Backward Classes commission in 2012.
While 1,01,626 cases are termed active by the Health Department, 39,472 among these are in Bengaluru alone. Over 4.84 lakh people have tested positive for the infection since March 8 in the state.
