Coronavirus lockdown: Karnataka to open temples from June 1

Karnataka will allow temples to open from June 1, but no fairs and festivals to be allowed
Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has decided to open temples in the state from June 1. With this, it has become the first state to do so. A standard operating protocol (SoP) to be followed will be issued soon.
Online seva booking will start from tomorrow in 52 temples, said Kota Srinivas Poojari, state minister for Muzrai Department.
Earlier, the Karnataka government had decided to allow temples in the state to live stream pujas and other rituals and deliver religious offerings, such as prasad and theertha (holy water), to devotees.
Karnataka on Tuesday reported 100 fresh cases of COVID19 from 5 pm on May 25 to 12 pm today, taking the total number of positive cases to 2,282. The total number of active cases rose to 1514 with 44 deaths, according to the Karnataka health department.
