According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India reported 9,851 new coronavirus cases and 273 casualties in 24 hours.  

New Delhi: India recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases for the second straight day.  Coronavirus cases in India have now crossed 2.26 lakh while the death toll is 6,348. India reported as many as 9,851 fresh coronavirus cases in a day.

The total number of cases in the country has now mounted to 226,770 including 110,960 active cases and 109,462 cured/discharged/migrated, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated in its latest data.

Maharashtra, which is the most-affected state in India, has over 77,000 coronavirus cases while Mumbai alone has over 44,000 COVID-19 cases, highest in any city in the country.

At least 123 people succumbed to the virus in the state in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day count so far.

On Thursday, India reported as many as 9,851 fresh coronavirus cases in a day. This is the highest-ever single-day spike reported in a day in India.
