A factory of Bajaj Auto, based in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, was shut temporarily after 79 employees tested positive for coronavirus  


Aurangabad: Bajaj Auto’s Aurangabad manufacturing facility has been shut down after its 79 employees tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Aurangabad plant handles a bulk of the exports of motorcycles and three-wheelers for the company.

According to reports, Bajaj Auto was shut down for almost a month and reopened its plant at Aurangabad in Maharashtra on April 22.

This news of positive COVID-19 cases came at a time when the company was seeing normalising at a faster rate than it expected.

On June 26, the number of COVID-19 patients in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad district rose to 4,299 after 263 people tested positive, while 14 more succumbed to the infection.

The highest single-day surge of COVID-19 cases crossed the 17,000 mark on Friday (June 26), pushing India’s tally to 4,90,401, while the death toll climbed to 15,301 with 407 new fatalities, according to the Union health ministry data.
