In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old boy was sodomised by 15 boys in a ground in Andheri in Mumbai recently.

Police have arrested seven boys after the victim named them and are on the lookout for the eight others who are absconding.

The victim, a class 9 student from DN Nagar area, was sodomised for the first time by one of his friends from the neighbourhood about a year ago. The boy made a video clip of the incident and shared it with his group of friends who then similarly exploited the victim.

The boys threatened him with dire consequences if he complained. He was raped several times throughout the year and the last incident, reportedly, happened on July 26.

According to the New Indian Express, the victim complained of severe pain to another friend of his, who told his relative, an NGO member. The victim was then brought to the police.

The victim was taken to Cooper Hospital for medical examination.

Police said on Tuesday, August 1, that they had arrested seven of the suspects under Indian Penal Code section 377 for unnatural sex and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO).

The juveniles were produced before the special juvenile court in Dongri, and all the seven boys have been taken into custody.

Police said the survivor has been left traumatised by the incident and is undergoing counselling.
