Chhattisgarh: 4 dead as Scorpio rams into stationary trailer; 3 children critical

Synopsis

A Scorpio hit a stationary trailer resulting in the death of four people who were in the SUV. The mishap happened in Chhattisgarh’s Korba city. 

Korba: Four people including two women died after an SUV hit a trailer parked on a roadside in the early hours of Monday morning (August 3) in Chhattisgarh’s Korba city. The three people killed belonged to the same family. Three children who were admitted in Korba’s district hospital are critical.

According to reports, the accident may have happened because the driver fell asleep. They were coming from Begusarai in Bihar.

According to police, the accident happened at around 5.30 am near Parla village which comes under Korba police station’s jurisdiction. The collision between the two vehicles was so severe that the Mahindra Scorpio got completely mangled. The dead bodies were removed after great difficulty. By the time, four people along with the driver were dead.  Seven people were in the Scorpio at the time of the accident.

The deceased have been identified as Moni Kumari (32), Deepak Kumar (22), Tripurari Sharma, and driver Shankar (32). The injured were initially treated at Podi's health centre, after which they were referred to Korba district hospital.

It is being said that Arun Sharma, who was a resident of Korba’s Gokul Nagar, had died recently. Sharma’s daughter, Moni, along with her in-laws had hired a Scorpio and was going to take part in the 13th day ritual of her deceased father.
