Deceased BJP worker Madan Ghorai's body was handed over to his family by the administration on Thursday (November 5) night. Madan Ghorai, was arrested in Patashpur in Purba Medinipur district on September 26 in connection with a kidnapping case. On October 13, Ghorai died in police custody. The family alleges that the police tortured the BJP worker in jail custody for which he died. They demanded a CBI probe and a second autopsy. However, the second autopsy was not done and his body was kept in the morgue for 21 days.
Madan Ghorai's body was handed over to his family by the administration on Thursday (November 5) night. The family broke down in tears as soon as they got the body. Madan Ghorai was arrested in Patashpur in Purba Medinipur district on September 26 in connection with a kidnapping case. He was the BJP booth vice-president in the area.
On October 9, the Patashpur police station had said that Ghorai was not keeping well and is being transferred to a prison in Kolkata for better treatment. On October 13, police informed the family of Madan Ghorai that he has died. The family alleges that the police tortured the BJP worker in jail custody for which he died.

The family of the deceased BJP worker Madan Ghorui demanded a CBI probe into the incident. At the same time, the family of the deceased was unhappy with the autopsy conducted at SSKM. The family demanded a second autopsy. On October 20, the Calcutta High Court granted the application for a second autopsy. After the hearing, a division bench of the High Court ordered a second autopsy on November 5. However, Madan’s body was not autopsied. His body was lying in the morgue for 21 days.
The family members of Madan Ghorai met Amit Shah as soon as he landed at the Kolkata airport. The family complained about the threats they were receiving and the apathy of the state government towards the family after they demanded a second autopsy of Ghorai. The Union Home Minister spoke to Madan's family while sitting in the VIP lounge at the Kolkata airport. Amit Shah assured Madan's family to take appropriate steps in this regard.

Madan Ghorai's body was handed over to his family on Thursday (November 5) night. Ghorai's body was also brought to the BJP state headquarters in Kolkata, where party leaders paid their tributes. The late BJP worker was honored with BJP flags and flower bouquets. However, the local BJP leadership has said that the movement will continue to protest Madan Ghorai's death.
