Bihar Election Results 2025 Live Updates: NDA Bags Landslide Win in Bihar, PM Modi Lauds Historic Sweep

The NDA has achieved a decisive victory in the Bihar Assembly polls, crossing the 122-seat majority mark with 152 seats. The BJP leads the alliance with 76 seats, followed by JD(U) with 59 and LJP(RV) with 14. The Mahagathbandhan trails far behind, with the RJD winning 16 seats and the Congress securing only 3.

The Election Commission has declared results for 147 seats, of which the NDA has won 125 seats and the Mahagathbandhan has won 17 seats. AIMIM wins on 5 seats. Counting of votes on other seats is underway.

BJP spokesperson Radhika Khera said the NDA’s strong lead in Bihar reflects people’s trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “real intention to deliver on policies.” She said women now have LPG cylinders, youth have more opportunities and farmers are progressing. Comparing it to the “Jungle Raj” era, she noted that women, once fearful to step out after noon, now participate confidently. Khera said the NDA’s gains show that “the Prime Minister did exactly what he promised.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted party workers and senior leaders at the BJP headquarters in Delhi as celebrations broke out over the NDA’s strong lead in the Bihar election. With trends showing the alliance crossing the 200-seat mark, the mood at the party office remained upbeat, reflecting confidence in a landmark victory.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was felicitated at the BJP headquarters in Delhi by party president JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah. The celebration came as the NDA moved toward a historic win in Bihar, with trends showing the alliance crossing the 200-seat mark.

RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui said the party will meet on Saturday to review its poor performance in the Bihar Assembly Election 2025. He noted that the leadership will first assess “what went wrong” before making any formal statement on the reasons behind the Mahagathbandhan’s setback.

Maithili Thakur, the 25-year-old folk singer turned politician, has won the Alinagar seat in Darbhanga, becoming Bihar’s youngest MLA. She defeated RJD’s Binod Mishra by over 12,000 votes, giving the BJP its first win in this constituency. An emotional video showed her celebrating with supporters while comforting her mother. Her victory comes amid the NDA’s sweeping performance across Bihar.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar posted a message on X thanking the people of the state for giving the NDA a “massive majority” in the 2025 assembly elections. He said the historic mandate reflects the public’s strong trust in the government. Kumar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support throughout the campaign and also thanked NDA partners Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha for their unity and teamwork. He added that with this collective support, Bihar will continue to progress and move towards becoming one of India’s most developed states.

Jailed JD(U) leader Anant Singh has won the Mokama assembly seat in Patna district by a margin of 28,206 votes. Singh secured 91,416 votes, defeating RJD candidate Veena Devi, while Jan Suraaj’s Priadarshi Piyush finished third. Singh was arrested before polling in connection with the murder of a Jan Suraaj supporter. 

Mokama, long dominated by powerful “bahubalis” including Singh and Surajbhan Singh, once again witnessed a contest shaped by its strongman politics.

BJP president JP Nadda on Friday hailed the NDA’s sweeping victory in the Bihar assembly elections as a “historic mandate”, crediting it to the development-focused governance of the Modi–Nitish partnership. In a post on X, Nadda said the “resounding majority” shows voters have rejected the Mahagathbandhan’s alleged “jungle raj” and corruption, choosing stability, welfare, and progress instead. He added that the unprecedented mandate strengthens the NDA’s resolve to accelerate Bihar’s growth and contribute to India’s broader development goals.

 The NDA is cruising toward a landslide victory in the Bihar assembly elections, with trends showing the alliance crossing the 200-seat mark. The BJP is emerging as the single-largest party, while the JD(U) is recording an equally strong performance. Celebrations erupted across Patna as supporters hailed the results.

On the Opposition front, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has recovered and now leads from Raghopur by over 13,000 votes, even as the RJD and Congress continue to suffer major setbacks. Other NDA allies, including LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM and RLM, are also performing strongly.

Union minister Chirag Paswan launched a sharp attack on the RJD after the NDA's sweeping lead in Bihar, saying the Opposition had displayed “arrogance even before the mandate was fully declared.” He criticised the RJD for talking about taking oath on 18 November while results were still coming in, calling it “the result of ambition taking the form of ego.” 

Paswan added that when he was earlier blamed for the NDA’s poor performance, the RJD’s gains came not from its own strength but from the alliance’s disunity. “Had the NDA been united then, the RJD wouldn’t have crossed even 25 seats,” he said. He added that the verdict shows Bihar has rejected the “jungle raj” narrative associated with the party.

Amit Shah hailed the NDA’s massive victory as a mandate for a “Developed Bihar” and a rejection of “Jungle Raj” and appeasement politics. He praised voters for choosing performance-based governance. Shah congratulated PM Narendra Modi, CM Nitish Kumar, and NDA workers, acknowledging the hard work of BJP cadres at every level. He assured the people—especially women—that the NDA government, under Modi’s leadership, will fulfil their expectations with even greater dedication.

The NDA is poised for a sweeping victory in Bihar, leading in nearly 200 of 243 seats, with the BJP emerging as the single largest party and posting an exceptional strike rate. The results reaffirm Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dominance as the face of the campaign. 

The Mahagathbandhan appears headed for a crushing defeat, struggling to cross 35 seats despite pre-poll surveys favouring Tejashwi Yadav. Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) is set for a major comeback, while Chirag Paswan’s LJP(RV) also shows strong gains.

As big NDA leaders secure commanding leads, the RJD faces a humiliating performance and Congress trails badly. Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has reclaimed the lead in Bihar’s high-stakes Raghopur seat as counting moves into the 19th round, delivering a dramatic twist in one of the state’s most closely watched battles.

The RJD leader has secured 72,932 votes — putting him 1,186 votes ahead of BJP candidate Satish Kumar, who has 71,746.

The contest has swung wildly through the day, with Tejashwi slipping behind, bouncing back, falling again, and now edging ahead as the race grows tighter.

BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad lauded Bihar voters for rising above caste to choose development over 'jungle raj.' The NDA crossed 200 seats with Nitish Kumar set for a fifth term, a victory significantly attributed to women voters.

By round 16 of 30, BJP candidate Satish Kumar is leading with 65,411 votes, holding a margin of 9,705 over Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who had 55,706 votes in Bihar's Raghopur constituency.

Tejashwi, who has held the seat for a decade and defeated Satish Kumar in both 2015 and 2020, briefly led by a few hundred votes before slipping behind.

Meanwhile, the NDA appeared headed for a sweeping victory statewide, opening strong leads in more than 200 seats.

Counting in the Raghopur Assembly constituency has entered Round 12 of 30, with Satish Kumar of the Bharatiya Janata Party maintaining a lead.

He has secured 48,453 votes, placing him 4,570 votes ahead of RJD's Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who stands at 43,883 votes. Chanchal Kumar of the Jan Suraaj Party follows with 1,497 votes, while independent candidate Baliram Singh has 1,270. Prem Kumar of the Janshakti Janta Dal has polled 521 votes, and Raju Kumar of the Aam Aadmi Party trails with 456.

The contest remains close, particularly as Tejashwi Yadav has held Raghopur for a decade, defeating Satish Kumar in 2015 and 2020.

The Congress is leading in just two of the 61 seats it contested. In Kishanganj, Md. Qamrul Hoda holds a lead of 22,083 votes with 74,964 votes polled, while in Bhagalpur, Ajeet Sharma is ahead by a narrow margin of 443 votes.

Bihar BJP president Dilip Jaiswal on Friday said that “no party is big or small in the NDA”, as the alliance appeared poised for a sweeping victory, leading in 206 of Bihar’s 243 assembly constituencies. The BJP looked set to outperform Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) for the second election in a row.

American singer Mary Millben on Friday took a sharp dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the party as the BJP-led NDA surged towards a landslide victory in the Bihar State Assembly polls, with the alliance's tally crossing the 200 mark in the 243-seat contest as per the latest trends.

"Dear Rahul Gandhi, Congress, and all the 'Gandhi Goons' trolling me on X several weeks ago and now following my friend PM Narendra Modi and the BJP sweeping the Bihar election today," Millben wrote in a post on X.

As NDA crosses the majority mark in Bihar, BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal says, "I thank the voters of Bihar for supporting the PM Modi-Nitish Kumar-led NDA. At around 5 PM, Vijay Utsav will be held at the BJP office in Patna."

UP Dy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya says, "Jungle Raaj, Katta raaj, nepotism and appeasement have lost in Bihar and development, 'Sushasan', 'gareeb kalyan', women empowerment have won and we are thankful to each and every voter of Bihar for this... Akhilesh Yadav will face even worse defeat than this in Uttar Pradesh."

The BJP on Friday celebrated the NDA’s strong performance in the Bihar Assembly elections, with the alliance leading in over 180 of 243 seats. Party leaders hailed the results as a resounding endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s development-driven governance. 

BJP spokespersons Anil Baluni, Sambit Patra, Gaurav Bhatia and others took swipes at the opposition, highlighting Congress losses and RJD setbacks. The party said the mandate clearly shows Bihar’s trust in the Nitish–Modi partnership and its promise of stability and progress.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari called the NDA’s strong lead in Bihar “historic,” saying voters have endorsed 10 years of development under the Modi–Nitish “double-engine government.” He credited their leadership for the alliance’s success and thanked the people of Bihar for their overwhelming support.

Earlier elections in Bihar were marred by widespread violence and electoral malpractice.

• In 1985, 63 people were killed and re-polling took place in 156 booths.
• In 1990, poll-related violence claimed 87 lives.
• In 1995, then Chief Election Commissioner T. N. Seshan was forced to postpone the polls four times due to severe violence and rampant fraud.
• In 2005, re-polling was conducted in as many as 660 booths.

Jan Suraaj Party spokesperson Pavan K Varma said the party will undertake a “serious review” of its performance in the Bihar Assembly elections, as early trends show Prashant Kishor’s outfit failed to register any significant impact despite an extensive grassroots push. His remarks come even as the ruling NDA appears headed for a sweeping victory in the state.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor reacted to the NDA’s strong lead in the Bihar elections, urging patience until the Election Commission announces final results. He said the Congress must study the causes of its performance but stressed that the RJD, as the senior partner, must also introspect. Tharoor pointed out that women voters received incentives just before the Code of Conduct, calling it a legal but unhealthy practice often used by state governments. He said multiple factors influence elections and the alliance must analyse the outcome in totality once results are confirmed.

“The game that SIR played in Bihar will no longer be possible in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, UP, and other places now because this electoral conspiracy has been exposed. From now on, we will not let them play this game. Like CCTV, our 'PPTV' meaning 'PDA Sentinel' will stay vigilant and thwart the BJP's intentions. BJP is not a party, it is deceit,” he wrote on X.
