Synopsis

Bhopal Police took Samarth Singh, husband of the deceased Twisha Sharma, into custody on Friday. The police have also filed an application in court to cancel the anticipatory bail of his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh.

Bhopal Police on Friday took into custody Samarth Singh, husband of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma who was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12, and said he will be produced in court within 24 hours as per norms. Bhopal Commissioner Police Sanjay Kumar also said that they have filed an application in court today to cancel the anticipatory bail of retired judge Giribala Singh, who is the mother of Samarth Singh.

Police Commissioner Confirms Custody

"He (accused Samarth Singh) has been taken into custody, and our police team is handling this entire process. We have to produce him before the court within twenty-four hours. So we will produce him within the given time," Kumar told ANI. Asked about the police application in the court for cancelling anticipatory bail of retired judge Giribala Singh, he said, "Yes, this application has been filed in the court today."

Details of Surrender and Arrest

Samarth Singh, who had been absconding, reached the Jabalpur court on Friday. Samarth Singh's advocate, Jaideep Kaurav later said the police took Singh into custody. "He appeared before the Jabalpur District Court to surrender himself, but the court was not available. After that, the Jabalpur Police took his custody and handed him over to the Bhopal Police. I don't have any information about the commotion at the District Court. He had arrived at the District Court to surrender himself, but the judge there had already left because the court's time was over and the court was not available," he said.

"The police took his custody from the court and then handed him over to the Bhopal police. The Bhopal police have taken custody, so there are chances that they will present him in the Bhopal court tomorrow," he added. (ANI)
