Bengaluru’s local buses on roads during lockdown only to ferry officials

Synopsis

Amidst novel coronavirus scare, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses will ply only to transport officials and front line staff working against coronavirus in the city  

Bengaluru: As being at the right spot and doing the right thing during lockdown is mandatory for officials, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses will ply across the city to ferry them.

This is to facilitate the staff of Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (Bescom), (Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), medical staff, police, petrol bunk staff, vegetables vendors, and few others with curfew passes involved in essential services.

The BMTC had announced this through a release.

While transport is being made available for front line officials, all precautionary measures like disinfecting the bus are being carried out daily and all the travellers are asked to follow COVID-19 guidelines like wearing masks, refraining from touching railings, support bars and using hand sanitisers frequently.
