Bengaluru railways: Seven new trains to start today

Synopsis

The South Western Railway will begin the services of seven new trains from today (Saturday, September 12). This will be an addition to the 80 special trains operating from September 12. 

Bengaluru: The South Western Railway has said that seven new trains would start from Bengaluru in addition to the 80 special trains from September 12.

"Services of seven pairs of trains are starting from Bengaluru division with effect from September 12, 2020. These services will be in addition to special trains which are already running," informed the press release issued by the South Western Railway.

The seven new trains beginning services are:

1.Train No. 06539/06540 KSR Bengaluru – Mysuru – KSR Bengaluru Special Express except Sunday.

2.Train No. 06587/06588 Yeshwantpur – Bikaner – Yeshwantpur Bi Weekly Special Express.

3.Train No. 06535/06536 Mysuru – Solapur – Mysuru Daily Special Express.

4.Train No. 06527/06528 KSR Bengaluru – New Delhi – KSR Bengaluru Daily Superfast Special Express.

5.Train No. 02591/02592 Gorakhpur – Yeshwantpur – Gorakhpur Bi – Weekly Superfast Special Express.

6.Train No. 02975/02976 Mysuru – Jaipur – Mysuru Bi– Weekly Superfast Special Express.

7.Train No. 02509/02510 Bengaluru Cantonment – Guwahati – Bengaluru Cantonment Tri – Weekly Special Express.

Meanwhile the SWR has also increased the cost of platform tickets at select railway stations in Bengaluru.

In view of a spike in COVID-19 cases, the South Western Railway on Thursday increased the price of platform tickets.

The price of the platform tickets has been increased by 400% by the SWR saying that the move will prevent crowding on railway platforms.

The ticket price has been raised from Rs 10 to 50 at select railway stations.
