Bengaluru Airport bags awards for ‘Best Airport Staff in India & Central Asia’

Employees of the Kempegowda International Airport are a delighted lot considering the tough situation induced by Covid-19 pandemic and many SOPs and protocols in place.


The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru has bagged the ‘Best Airport Staff in India and Central Asia’ award at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2021.

An official release said that the award was “particularly significant” considering the challenging year that the aviation industry has experienced following the Covid outbreak.

Employees of the Kempegowda International Airport are a delighted lot considering the tough situation induced by Covid-19 pandemic and many SOPs and protocols in place.

Collaborative efforts by members of the BLR Airport and passengers’ endorsement of top-quality services helped the state win the award.

Hari Marar, Managing Director and CEO of Bangalore International Airport Limited, said, “This is truly a fabulous reward for all of us working at the Bengaluru Airport ecosystem, as this recognition is based on passenger voting. A big thank you to all our passengers who appreciated our hard work.”

“We dedicate this award to every member who has worked towards improving passenger experience at BLR Airport. I believe this award will add further impetus to our pursuit of excellence,” Marar added.

Meanwhile, earlier two weeks ago, the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi bagged the 2021 Skytrax World Airport Awards crown for best airport in India and Central Asia for the third consecutive year.

The Delhi Airport was also bestowed with the Covid-19 Airport Excellence Award for successfully implementing safety protocols during the pandemic by Skytrax. This airport is also the only Indian airport to make it to this category.

Skytrax launched its first global airport customer satisfaction survey, the World Airport Awards began in 1999.

A central directive of the survey is for customers to make their own, personal choices as to which airport they consider to be the best, underlining the brand as the Passenger’s Choice Awards.
