Army chief Naravane to visit Ladakh to review ground situation, interact with troops

 The Army chief will be on a two-day visit to Ladakh where he is also expected to meet the soldiers who were injured in the violent face-off in the Galwan Valley  


New Delhi: Army chief General MM Naravane will visit Ladakh on Tuesday (June 23) and Wednesday to discuss with ground commanders the six-week standoff with Chinese military, Army sources said.

The Chief of the Army Staff will visit forward locations and interact with troops on the ground and is also expected to meet the soldiers who were injured in the violent face-off , they said.

The visit comes a week after 20 Indian Army personnel were martyred in a brutal assault by the Chinese military in Galwan Valley which escalated the border tension.

According to reports, the Indian and Chinese military held Lt General-level talks on Monday that went on for around 11 hours. The talks are likely to resume on Tuesday.

During the second round of Lt General-level talks, India demanded immediate withdrawal of Chinese troops from all friction points in eastern Ladakh.
