Andhra guidelines for Bakrid: No namaz at Eidgah, prayers with only 50% crowd at Masjids and others

The Andhra Pradesh government has announced guidelines for Bakrid, the festival of sacrifice in which like last year, this year also there won't be any congregation at Eidgah maidans due to Covid. However, prayers can be offered at Masjids with only 50 percent of public gatherings.

As this be second Bakrid amidst Covid situation, the Andhra Pradesh government issued guidelines for the festival that will be observed for three days following the sighting of the crescent moon.

As Eid falls on July 21, the government has said that no 'Namaz' will be held in any of the Eidgah across the state and prayers will be allowed only at Masjids with only 50% occupancy and social distance.

Management of Masjids must keep a stock of hand sanitizers and everyone who comes, follows the rules.

Children and senior citizens are barred from entry and customers like meeting relatives, Eid-Milap programs, handshaking (Musafa), hugging with each other all must be avoided to prevent the spread as the virus is contagious.

The guidelines also state that the chief priests that are Imam's delivering sermons during Eid-Ul-Azha (Bakrid) must keep it short and wind it up at the earliest. The Masjids must make an announcement in advance to community members to bring their own floor mats to squat and offer prayers and take it back.

As the virus seems to attack more on people with comorbid conditions like BP, diabetes, and other chronic ailments children, pregnant women, and aged persons should be kept indoors and offer prayers at the house.
