4 killed, at least 40 people missing after cloudburst hits Jammu & Kashmir villages

Taking to Twitter, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said the Indian Air Force has been contacted for the rescue operations. 
 

At least four persons were killed in flash floods triggered by a cloudburst at Khangral on Kargil-Leh National Highway.
As many as eight homes and one mini-hydropower facility in Sangra have been damaged in the cloudburst and floods. The area is now completely blocked off, making relief and rescue efforts extremely difficult. 

In a similar incident, flash floods caused by a cloudburst in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar region left around 40 people missing on Wednesday morning.

The meteorological department has issued a weather warning for the Union territory. Most parts of the Jammu region have been receiving heavy rain for the past few days. With the prediction of more rain till the end of this month, authorities in Kishtwar have asked people living along water bodies and slide-prone areas to remain vigilant.

Meanwhile, around 10 people are reported missing in flash floods triggered by a cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh’s tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti.
