
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said that six more Rafale fighter jets will be inducted into Indian Air Force by March this year.
So far the IAF has inducted 11 fighter jets.
In reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Rajnath said that all sanctioned Rafale fighter aircraft will be inducted into the IAF by April next year.
India had signed a government to government deal worth Rs 59,000 crore with France for procurement of 36 readymade Rafale fighter jets in 2016.
The first batch of five aircraft, including two trainer jet was received on July 29, 2020 but was formally inducted in September 2020 into the 17 'Golden Arrows' Squadron at the Ambala Air Force station.
Rafale is a 4.5 generation aircraft with latest India-specific weapons, superior sensors and fully integrated architecture.
